Covid-19 March Update

31st March 2020

Since the last update on our response to the Covid-19 virus, we have implemented new policies and procedures to keep our residents and staff safe and healthy. Their well-being is of utmost importance to us and preventing an outbreak of the virus is our priority at this time.

We continue to restrict all external access to our homes including visitors. Deliveries of essential items including medication are being made at a distance and collected by staff.

Staff are following the guidelines of the Government by practising social distancing and isolating themselves where possible. We have issued all the staff with a face mask and hand sanitiser for when they need to go outside for supplies and when travelling to and from the homes. All staff must wash their hands when arriving to work and throughout the day.

At this time, it is not necessary for the staff to wear full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when they are in the homes as we are lucky enough to report no Covid-19 cases in any of the homes at this time. Wearing PPE can come across as intimidating and is unfamiliar to our residents so we want to hold off for as long as possible. If there is an outbreak, necessary action will be taken and quarantine procedures will be put in place.

We are taking all reports of Covid-19 symptoms or exposure to symptoms seriously and staff are being isolated for 14 days or quarantined for 7 days before returning to work. All staff are working at their allocated homes to reduce the risk of exposure and to prevent anyone from carrying the virus between homes. Please be assured that there are no issues with staff cover during these times. We prepared well in advance for the possibility of staff shortages due to Covid-19.

We realise that this is a difficult time for the relatives of our residents and hope that the new ways of communicating to your loved ones is providing comfort and reassurance.

We are continuing to review the situation on a daily basis and following the guidance of the Government and Public Health England. If you have any questions or would like to speak to a Manager about the well-being of the residents and this time then please don’t hesitate to get in touch via the Contact Us Page on our website.
